Servisair Lounge Terminal 3 Review Reviewer: Gen Eto

This was the worst lounge I have ever stayed in.

Prior to my visit here, I had never stayed in a 'pay as you go' lounge, but I decided to give it a try nonetheless, just to see if the 18.50 pounds was worth it. My first impression of the lounge was of the rank and overpowering smell of stale cigarettes that hit me the moment I stepped through the doors. This was complemented by the dated decor which indicated that the room had not been updated or even vigorously cleaned since the 1980's. You can even tell that this was once a Qantas lounge by the kangaroo logos which have been kept on the glass panel partitions. The furniture was dated and ratty, there was lots of trash left on tables, malfunctioning flickering lights, dirty fingerprints all over walls and windows and the bathroom hardly reflected the 'VIP' status the lounge is marketed on (just some imperial leather soap as an amenity). Other airline business class lounges I have stayed in try to keep an air of calm and serenity to help soothe the journey, but not this servisair lounge. Children and infants are more than welcome, making the place hardly a quiet affair and this is intermixed with loud boarding calls from the desk attendant. The food consisted of small bags of potato chips and packaged cookies, with a few oranges and apples. So appalled was I by the general unpleasantness of the lounge from the combined smell, noise, ugly decor, crowdedness and poor food, that I would likely have left early had I not only had 30 minutes or so to kill before my flight.

I can't stress enough that this lounge is simply NOT worth the price and does NOT at all equate to other business class lounges I have stayed in (mostly Air Canada and JAL). It is a reflection of the lounge that the airlines that contract out the lounge for their business class passengers are the likes of Pakistan International Airlines, Iran Air and Biman Bangladeshi Airlines. To be fair, I will give them credit that they do have a fairly well stocked bar with standard spirits and an ok selection of beers. I suppose if you're the kind to have 3 or 4 drinks before a flight, then it might be worth it to pay 18.50 just to come in here and drink as much as you want as opposed to go for overpriced individual drinks at one of the restaurants. Otherwise though, STAY AWAY!

A clean quiet lounge a little crowded but always calm atmosphere.

Reception staff pleasant. Enjoyed a couple of cold bottled beers and a read of the paper before boarding my flight to New York.
